| The braces on the molars are tubes. If you look at them from the front, you can see a rectangular opening. This is where the wire slides into. To replace the wire into the molar tube, grab the wire with a tweezers or a pliers with a small tip about 1/8 of an inch from the end of the wire. Gently bend the end of the wire up so that when you pull it forward, the wire will get a "U" shaped bend in it. Pull it forward just enough to line up the end of the wire with the front of the tube. Once you have the wire started in the tube, you can gently coax it into the tube to straighten it out. In most cases, as in this example, I don't use a wire this flexible to connect the last molar; the end of the wire stops at the second to last molar. If this is the case in your situation, this is normal - the end of the wire did not break off. |
